Yes, we have someone new in our pride of purrbabies!
Mamacat had a litter about September 15, which we didn't get to see till Thursday, October 20. But, she still looks pregnant, carrying on the right side; and, she is weaning her September litter. We've heard that cats can carry separate litters, and she certainly seems to be doing that. Early Thursday afternoon, Mom told me, "Someone left a surprise!" then led me outdoors, where she lifted the lid on the pet house on the porch. She was disappointed to see that all of the kittens which had been there earlier were gone~except for a yellow one with blue eyes, who pressed into a back corner though he didn't look frightened. We weren't sure if Mamacat was moving her kittens and had left this one, so we figured that we shouldn't pick up the kitten. When she did show up a short while later, a tiger-stripe kitten popped out of the garden to go to her. We then lifted the roof again in order to get the yellow one and set it on the porch where he could join her.
Now, it's been very rainy and chilly, and, as soon as I set down the yellow kitten, he acted fussy.
Hmmmm... I should have started this much earlier, as it's now 5:30 a.m. *YAWN* So...
TO BE CONTINUED!
EDIT 10/27: I haven't gotten around to typing out his story. In the (almost a) week he's been with us, he definitely keeps us busy and on those proverbial toes! He races around the house, plays with Sabrina and the others (but especially Sabrina), and lets us know when he wants formula instead of cat food. He's an amazing little boy. We've been considering a lot of names, and Mom said that she wondered if we held off because we fear losing him as we did Honey Bear (RIP).
However, we're leaning toward this: Pumpkin Pye! The "Pye" is in memory of "Pyewacket", a ladycat who was with us for about 21 years; I always get confused about the length of time because, prior to Pyewacket, we had a lookalike named Timothy Matthew Titus O'Leary. One lived for 21 years; the other, 23. After so many decades, I'm hazy about this; I'd have to check Mom's list that she keeps for not only our cats but also Mamacat's and Cat Ballou's litters.
Pumpkin Pye certainly fits the time of year!
