Remembering his early days with us...
It's sad that, after he had been able to get out of his basket and do so much roaming, he would be back in it, so weak that he could barely raise his head. His eyes remained bright and shiny, even as ill as he was; and, I kept looking into them, telling him I wouldn't leave him for a moment. When he was gone, those beautiful eyes remained open, as if he didn't want to shut out the world.
He snagged our hearts and took part of them with him, leaving us grieving for him. We didn't select this kitten; he was left here by someone who obviously figured that we would take care of him. We looked at it as a duty but ended up loving him dearly.
